If you have a subject that really fascinates you, it can be anything from making jam, the wars of Genghis Khan, Hornby Train Sets or what ever. You can bet your bottom dollar that there are other people in the world who are also fascinated and spend all of their spare time on their hobby.
In that above sentence I have just given away a big secret to making money from your hobby. And that was the term "in the world".
If your are a Grandma living in a small village in central Europe and interested in Capodimonte figurines (I have just look them up on eBay and there are about 60 of them for sale at plus) do you think that Grandma could make a living in her village? Doubtful.
There might be 10 plus people living in her area with the same interest and here in the UK you might find 250 people with the same interest.
The only way that you could hope to reach such a small group would be to place an ad in the national press and hope that some fellow enthusiasts would read it and get in touch with Grandma.
But, use the Internet and all that changes. Nowadays Grandma can reach millions of people in one go; just by creating a website Grandma can trade 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
And with that number of audience Grandma can find enough people to make an income... no matter how obscure your hobby or passion might be.
